A tiny leaf goes a long way in the cleverly animated short film utilizing pixilation, pencil, pastel, stop-motion, paper cutout.


Yawen Zheng is an M.F.A. animation student at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She primarily concentrates on 2D animation and illustration, but continues to expand into different mediums and styles, with the goal of expressing peaceful and positive energy to this world through her animation. Yawen also holds a B.A. in animation from Communication University of China in Beijing. Her undergraduate thesis film, The Song for Rain, selected to ANNECY animation festivals in 2012 and also won an award for Production Design at the 2013 Animation Academy Awards in China.
