Kate Phelan started working on movies in the early ‘90s crewing on KIDS, I SHOT ANDY WARHOL and HAPPINESS. She gaffed the Sundance winner GIRLFIGHT directed by Karyn Kusama, PIECES OF APRIL and SUNSHINE STATE for indie film legend, John Sayles.
In 2004 Kate became a director of photography. She lensed the first season of TOSH.O and the Emmy nominated web series HONESTY, both for Comedy Central. She’s shot promos for CBS, VH1, TBS, Amazon and E! as well as pilots for MTV & VH1. Feature film FALL TO RISE screened at Lincoln Center’s Dance on Film series in 2015. Kate is a part time camera operator on MADAM SECRETARY on CBS in addition to shooting promos.
Since 2012, Kate completed a two-year writing fellowship at Writers Bootcamp and studied acting at The Barrow Group. Last year she wrote and directed VISIT 57, which won best screenplay at the 2016 Women’s Indie Film Fest.
